Announcing her next move after split from Gerard Pique, the 'Girl Like Me' songstress does not forget to thank friends who cheered her up, dried her tears and made her grow.

AceShowbiz - Shakira has bid farewell to the city of Barcelona. Nearly one year after her split from footballer Gerard Pique, the "Girl Like Me" singer revealed that she is moving to a different city to start a new life chapter with her children while searching for happiness.

On Sunday, April 2, the 46-year-old songstress took to Instagram to share a photo of Catalonia's capital city. Along with it, she shared a lengthy note in which she dished, "I settled in Barcelona to give my children a stability, the same we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea."

Revealing the reason why she chose to move out, the "Hips Don't Lie" hitmaker declared, "Today we start a new chapter in the pursuit of their happiness." She further thanked her friends in the city by stating, "Thank you to everyone who surfed alongside my many waves there in Barcelona."

The "Beautiful Liar" singer further made note that friendship stayed longer than romantic relationships. "The city where I learned that friendship is certainly longer than love," she said before expressing her gratitude. "Thank you to everyone who has been there to cheer me up, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow."

The Colombian singer did not forget to thank her loyal fans as well. "Thank you to my Spanish audience who have always wrapped me in their love and loyalty," she said. She concluded her note by saying, "For you just a see you later and as my father said so many times, see you around the curves!"

One month prior, Shakira opened up about feeling stronger as a single mother. "When a woman has to face life's battles she comes out stronger. Now paradoxically I feel complete because I depend on myself and I have two children who depend on me and that means I have to be stronger than a lioness," she told Mexican channel Canal Estrellas.

On how she achieved that strength, the mother of two explained, "That strength comes out of experiencing a painful loss, of accepting it, of tolerating a frustration, of understanding that life doesn't always bring us what we want."

Shakira and Gerard ended their relationship in May 2022 after being together for 11 years. The two shared 9-year-old Milan and 7-year-old Sasha together.
