The 'Boy Meets World' alum says his romance with the TLC singer is 'quite special' because he's 'never gotten to be able to experience that kind of relationship before.'

AceShowbiz - Matthew Lawrence is head over heels for Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. When opening up about their relationship following his divorce from Cheryl Burke, the "Boy Meets World" alum called his new girlfriend "amazing."
"Life is always a surprise," the 43-year-old actor told Entertainment Tonight. "My life is in a complete bloom right now. I get to spend time with an amazing woman like Chilli. I've never gotten to be able to experience that kind of relationship before, so it's quite special. She's a really, really special human being. I wish more people on the planet were like her. We'd be much better off."
Matthew went on to gush over the TLC singer. "She's just got, you know, her morals and her values," he raved. "The way she treats her family. She loves my family, so important. We get along. We'll talk on the phone and she's like, 'My mom's calling me.' I'm like, 'Go get it. I know how important that is.' Same thing like my mom calls me. It's not like, 'Why are you talking to your mom?!' It's like, 'Oh, your mom. Go talk to your mom,' you know?"
Matthew then recalled meeting Chilli at an event where he thought he was part of a Q&A session. "We were working. We just said hello in passing and probably nothing would've come of that, but there was this big snowstorm," he recounted. "The only flight I could get was a connecting flight through Atlanta. She lives in Atlanta so, she was flying on that flight."
"Really it was the flight, talking and then afterwards saying, 'Hey, let's keep in contact,' he continued sharing. "That's really what made it, and it almost did not happen. I mean, literally, an hour before the flight took off they were like, 'OK, we got you on this flight.'"
Chilli and Matthew confirmed they are an item in January after sparking dating rumors in August 2022. The two made their romance official over New Year's weekend by sharing a video on their Instagram accounts of them dancing in matching Christmas pajamas.
Her rep Christal Jordan confirmed to PEOPLE at the time, "I've been with Chilli since 2005 and I've never seen her this in love. She is glowing. They are really cute together." Jordan added that the 43-year-old actor and the "Waterfalls" singer spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in Atlanta, where he met Chilli's family.
