AceShowbiz - Lucy Hale has her own way to celebrate Valentine's Day. On Tuesday, February 14, the "Pretty Little Liars" alum revealed that she's been sober for a little over a year now.
Taking to Instagram, the 33-year-old beauty shared a photo of a sprinkle-covered cake with the words "1 Year!" written in icing. She kicked off her caption by writing, "Bear with me, this is an alternative Valentine's Day post. This is a post about self-love and about the greatest thing I've ever done."
"On January 2, 2023 I celebrated one year of sobriety," she continued. "While this journey has mostly been private, I felt compelled tonight to let anyone who is struggling know that you are not alone and you are loved."
Lucy has since been showered with support from her celebrity friends, including Lili Reinhart, who gushed, "So amazing, Lucy." Lily Collins added, "Love you and so proud of you." Demi Lovato penned, "I'm so proud of you sis. I love you so much. Thank you for being a part of my journey and allowing me to be a part of yours."
Lucy first quit drinking in 2017. When speaking to Byrdie that year, "The Hating Game" leading lady opened up about how she planned to give up alcohol and partying after "Pretty Little Liars" came to an end.
"PLL was a great chapter of my life, but it's very exciting to start over," she admitted at the time. "Becoming a part of this popular show … everyone just says yes to you, so you get away with a lot, and then you make mistakes."
