AceShowbiz - Channing Tatum and his lap dance have swooned moviegoers. "Magic Mike's Last Dance", the third installment in the "Magic Mike" trilogy, has landed atop the North American box office on a somewhat slow weekend for theater industry, no thanks to Super Bowl LVII.

The R-rated comedy drama film takes the top spot with an estimated $8.2 million, the lowest showing of the three films in the franchise. It, however, wasn't unexpected as "Last Dance" is playing in far fewer theaters, 1,550 cinemas, than the first two titles since it was originally made for streaming and not the big screen.

Overseas, the threequel starts off with $10.4 million from 18 markets for a global start of $18.6 million. For some reason, Warner Bros. held off "Last Dance" box office reports until Sunday, February 12 despite it being No. 1, possibly to minimize comparisons to the previous films.

While Tatum may charm female moviegoers, James Cameron actually dominates the domestic chart this weekend with two of his movies. "Avatar: The Way of Water" is up one spot to No. 2 with an estimated $6.9 million, but it's followed close behind with "Titanic", which is back in theaters in its remastered 3D version ahead of Valentine's Day and in celebration of the film's 25th anniversary. The 1997 romantic masterpiece bagged approximately $6.4. million upon its first week of return.

"80 for Brady" is down two places to No. 4 with an estimated $6 million, grossing $24.9 million domestically so far. Meanwhile, last week's champion "Knock at the Cabin" is tackled down to No. 5 with approximately $5.5 million.

The quiet weekend at box office precedes the release of Disney/Marvel's "Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania", which is coming in theaters globally on February 17. It is the first film of Phase Five of the MCU.
