AceShowbiz - Young Thug has received support from an unlikely ally. Matty Healy has surprisingly shown love to the rapper amid the latter's trial in the highly publicized RICO case that also involved 27 people associated with his record label YSL.

The 1975's singer advocated for Thugger's freedom regardless of his alleged involvement in any crimes during the band's recent concert at The SSE Arena in Belfast, United Kingdom. In a TikTok video shared by user @olivia.blair on Tuesday, January 31, the singer gave a shout-out to the Atlanta native during the weekend show.

"Free Young Thug," Matty said during an auto-tune laden portion of the performance. He added, "None of these cultural references make any sense without Young Thug. I don't care if he did anything with guns. Free Thugger. F**kin' free Thugger." The 33-year-old further urged concertgoers, "Do you research."

In May 2022, Young Thug was among the 28 people associated with YSL who were arrested in a 56-count Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) indictment filed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

The "Stoner" hitmaker has been hit with eights counts in violation of the RICO Act, in addition to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of codeine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm and possession of a machine gun charges. He has also been deemed the ringleader by prosecution. His attempts to be released on bond have been denied and he has been held at the Fulton County Superior Court while awaiting trial.

The 31-year-old is currently one of the remaining 14 defendants that are on pace to face trial on RICO charges. Other people arrested in the case, including Gunna, have accepted plea deals and have been released.

The trial on Thugger's RICO case has been ongoing since January, but as of Wednesday, February 1, not a single juror has been selected.
