AceShowbiz - It appeared that Kim Kardashian quietly took an action against Balenciaga after it sparked outrage over its latest ad. If a new report is to be believed, "The Kardashians" star declined an offer from Balenciaga after its campaign featured children holding teddy bears wearing bondage gear.
Sources with direct knowledge of the situation told TMZ that the reality TV star was presented an offer to do a 2023 Balenciaga campaign before the Spanish luxury brand was hit with accusations of sexualizing children with the Spring/Summer 2023 collection. The news outlet claimed that once the ad went public, Kim made the decision to reject the offer and it was before she made public statement addressing the backlash.
Additionally, the 42-year-old was said to be planning to wear Balenciaga ensembles at events she will be attending in the coming months. In the wake of the controversy, the SKIMS founder had changed her mind and contacted other designers for new options.
Kim previously faced criticism for not speaking out on the controversy immediately. She broke her silence earlier this month, explaining, "I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven't been shocked and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened."
"As a mother of four, I have been shaken by those disturbing images," the former "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star went on saying. "The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and anything against it should have no place in our society - period."
After applauding Balenciaga for removing pictures from the campaign and apologizing, she concluded, "In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again."
In a separate post, Kim also revealed the future of her partnership with the high-end brand. "As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand," the KKW Beauty founder shared, "basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with."
