In an Instagram post, the filmmaker, who is best known for writing 'Milk', reveals that he has not been able to work after sustaining a head injury that will take a 'long' time to recover.

AceShowbiz - Oscar-winning writer Dustin Lance Black is facing a major health setback. The filmmaker, who is best known for writing the film "Milk", has revealed that he suffered a "serious head injury" last month that has forced him to "shut off" his brain.

The 48-year-old took to his Instagram page on Monday, September 26 to explain his health issue and his absence from social media since the injury. "So I vanished for a while… A month ago I sustained a serious head injury that put me out of commission," he wrote.

"Showing little improvement, my doctors ordered me to shut off my brain in hopes of it healing," Dustin shared. "This has been a challenging, frightening time for a creative type who depends on what's in his skull to work, care and love. And now I understand the road back will be long."

Dustin, who has been married to British Olympic champion Tom Daley since 2017, added that his husband took him to Greece to help him recover. "But this week my sweet, over the top husband took us to the Greek Islands to make me shut off," he gushed, while sharing pictures from their trip to the Mediterranean country.

Feeling optimistic, the screenwriter concluded his caption, "I can already feel this trip is a step in the right direction, and I finally feel safe sharing a bit again Thank you for all of your love and patience. More to come. Promise."

Dustin's post has been flooded with messages wishing him full and speedy recovery. "Get well soon! Sending loads of love," one person wrote in the comment section. Another commented, "Hope you feel better soon, Lance. Take care." A third follower added, "Sending you love for a period of healing and rest!"

Dustin has not detailed an incident that caused his head injury. Back in August, multiple outlets reported that the director/producer was involved in an altercation with British reality TV star Teddy Edwardes at Avo Mario in London. He claimed she threw a punch at his head while she alleged he threw a drink at her. Dustin was with his Olympic diver husband Tom at the time of the brawl.

Teddy further detailed on social media that she shared a table with Tom and Dustin, who became upset when she asked another person to leave their group. She claimed that Dustin threw his drink at her "pretty much unprovoked" and "I didn't have a drink to throw back so I did choose violence, but I wasn't that violent, he got a little tap on the head." Police were called but no injuries were reported.

The next day, Dustin and Tom were spotted out and about with their son, during which the "J. Edgar" writer seemed to be fine.
