The former Arsenal player jokingly contemplates stripping off and channeling 'The Full Monty' in an effort to win the Glitterball Trophy with pro partner Katya Jones.

AceShowbiz - Tony Adams joked he would perform in his birthday suit on "Strictly Come Dancing". Currently taking part in the BBC Latin and Ballroom show with professional partner Katya Jones, the 55-year-old ex-footballer quipped that he would mimic the stripping routine made famous in 1997 comedy "The Full Monty" in a bid to win the Glitterball Trophy.

"I've written biographies, warts and all - you know everything about me. Maybe I could do 'The Full Monty'? I've gained a bit of weight. I've got a bit of muscle in areas I never thought I had, like my right buttock. I've still got a six-pack. You seen my 1998 topless England pictures? GQ man of the Year 1998," he said.

Meanwhile, the Arsenal legend is married to Poppy Teacher and has Atticus, 18, Hector, 16, and Iris, 12 but also has Poppy and Oliver, 31, and Amber, 27, with ex-wife Jane Shea and his wife "pushed" him into taking part and is not the "slightest bit worried" about the infamous "Strictly" curse because they have a "spiritual connection."

He told The Daily Mirror newspaper, "My wife is comfortable with everything. I think she's trying to get rid of me, that's why she pushed me into doing the show. She's not the slightest bit worried. Luckily enough, when I met Poppy 20 years ago we had a spiritual connection."

Tony - who is competing against the likes of "Loose Women" star Kaye Adams, former "The X-Factor" contestant Fleur East, and 1980s pop star Matt Goss on the show also thinks the treatment he got after he left prison following a drink-driving conviction, and suffering a "mental breakdown" has made him unafraid of what judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke could say to him as feedback.

He said, "I'm going to top you all because when I came out of prison they lobbed bottles at me and I had carrots thrown at me. So - I've trumped it. I had a mental breakdown when I was 49 and working too hard in China. I'm not working too much, my calendar's pretty empty for the next three months so I just thought yeah, go for it."
