AceShowbiz - Rosie O'Donnell was once hurt by Ellen DeGeneres' comment. When addressing the matter on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen", the "Now and Then" star admitted that she will never forget the latter's remarks about her.

"We had a little bit of a weird thing," the 60-year-old told host Andy on Thursday, September 15. "After my show went off the air and hers was coming on the air, Larry King was on with Ellen and he said, 'Whatever happened to Rosie O'Donnell? Her show went down the tubes. She came out as a lesbian and disappeared!' "

"And Ellen said, and I'm quoting, 'I don't know Rosie. We're not friends,' " Rosie recalled. She said she was left in disbelief by Ellen's statement considering that she helped pave the way for the latter and her now-canceled series, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show".

"I was in bed with Kelli [Carpenter], and I said, 'Did I just hear that or was that a hallucination, auditory voice in my [head]?' " Rosie recounted. "It hurt my feelings, like a baby, and I never really got over it."

Rosie divulged that she got an invitation "at the end" of Ellen's show's run. She initially accepted it as long as she could bring someone with her to avoid an "awkward" situation. However, Ellen "didn't want to do that" so she ended up not coming.

Despite the "hurtful" comment, Rosie emphasized that she has nothing against Ellen. "I wish her all good things in her life and that she should be well, so there you go," the New York-born comedienne stated.

Back in August 2020, Rosie declared that she had "compassion" for Ellen amid allegations of a "toxic" culture behind the scenes on her talk show. "That's why I have compassion for Ellen, right?" she said when appearing on "Busy Phillips Is Doing Her Best" podcast. "I have compassion, even though, you know, I hear the stories and I understand. I think she has some social awkwardness."
