Fresh off the premiere of his psychological thriller 'Don't Worry Darling' in Venice, the British actor/singer will be seen embarking in a forbidden love triangle in the upcoming romantic drama.

AceShowbiz - Harry Styles is showing his acting versatility in his upcoming movie "My Policeman". Fresh off the premiere of his psychological thriller "Don't Worry Darling" at the Venice Film Festival, the British singer/actor's other new film has unveiled its first full trailer for viewing pleasure.

Making its way out on the Internet on Wednesday, September 7, the trailer sees Styles' character, a young policeman named Tom, who lives a double life as a married man and a gay lover. He married a school teacher named Marion while being in a relationship with Patrick, a museum curator. As he struggles to conform to the social norm, the secret they share threatens to ruin them all.

According to the official logline, "a beautifully crafted story of forbidden love and changing social conventions, 'My Policeman' follows three young people - policeman Tom (Styles), teacher Marion (Emma Corrin) and museum curator Patrick (David Dawson) as they embark on an emotional journey in 1950s Britain. Flashing forward to the 1990s, Tom (Linus Roache), Marion (Gina McKee) and Patrick (Rupert Everett) are still reeling with longing and regret, but now they have one last chance to repair the damage of the past. Based on the book by Bethan Roberts, director Michael Grandage carves a visually transporting, heart-stopping portrait of three people caught up in the shifting tides of history, liberty, and forgiveness."

Speaking about his role in the movie, Styles previously told Rolling Stone, "It's obviously pretty unfathomable now to think, 'Oh, you couldn't be gay. That was illegal.' I think everyone, including myself, has your own journey with figuring out sexuality and getting more comfortable with it." He added of the movie, "It's not like, 'This is a gay story about these guys being gay.' It's about love and about wasted time to me."

The "Dunkirk" star also explained why the sex scenes in the movie are different from people used to seeing. "So much of gay sex in film is two guys going at it, and it kind of removes the tenderness from it. There will be, I would imagine, some people who watch it who were very much alive during this time when it was illegal to be gay, and [Michael] wanted to show that it's tender and loving and sensitive," he said.

"My Policeman" will have its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held from September 8 to 18, before going into limited release in the U.S. on October 21. It will then be available to stream on Prime Video starting November 4.
