In a joint statement announcing their decision to end their 14-month marriage, the reality TV couple explains why they split while they still 'have love for each other.'

AceShowbiz - Love itself isn't enough to keep a marriage intact. Iyanna McNeely and Jarrette Jones of Netflix's reality series "Love Is Blind" had to learn this the hard way as they have announced they are calling it quits after only 14 months of marriage despite still having "love for each other."

The pair broke the news in a joint statement shared via their social media accounts. "After much thought, we're saddened to share that we have separated and will begin the process of divorcing," they announced on Wednesday, August 17. "While we have love for each other, our lives are going in different directions and that's OK. Coming to this decision was far from easy and we will always wish each other the absolute best."

They added, "We hope you all will give us some space as we close this chapter of our lives. Thank you to our close friends and family for loving us both through our experience. To the Love Is Blind family and Netflix, thank you for this unforgettable opportunity and support."

"Each of you have brought overwhelming love and joy into our lives," Iyanna and Jarrette said of their supportive family and fans. Keeping a positive attitude, they concluded their message, "This experience has taught us so much about ourselves, vulnerability and love. We don't regret a single thing!"

Iyanna and Jarrette met as they starred in season 2 of "Love Is Blind". On the show, 15 men and 15 men date each other in purpose-built "pods" where they can talk to each other through a speaker but not see each other. A couple meets face to face only after a marriage proposal is accepted.

Jarrette eventually chose Iyanna after wrestling having feelings for both Iyanna and their co-star Mallory Zapata. "She's a better fit for me because she's everything that I needed," the project manager told Us Weekly in March of choosing Iyanna over Mallory. "On paper, me and Mal would've worked out. ... I think with Iyanna - she was vastly different and I think those differences are things that I needed in my life to help me grow and be a better person and be a better husband."

The split comes as a shock since they had opened up about their plans to have kids together. "The first thing on our agenda is to travel because we had talked about that in the pod so much, about how we just wanted to travel the world before we settle down again, having children," Jarrette told PEOPLE earlier this year.
