The Russian model speaks up after her Instagram Story of potato salad leads to a speculation that she is supporting the Putin-led country amid the invasion of Ukraine.

AceShowbiz - Irina Shayk isn't letting the public judge her political belief based on her social media activity. The model has spoken up after her post of potato salad led to accusations that she's supporting Russia amid the country's invasion of Ukraine.

The Russian-born supermodel recently took to her Instagram Story to share a photo of her healthy meal. The picture featured a bowl of potato salad as she wrote over it, "Russianzz on Wednesday."

It's not clear why Irina used double "z" in the caption, but many quickly linked the extra "z" to the propaganda symbol that has been painted on Russian military vehicles invading Ukraine. The logo has become a symbol of pro-war sentiment, prompting some German states to ban it, citing the criminal code against "incitement to crime of aggression."

Interpreting Irina's Story as an endorsement of the war in Ukraine, a journalist from Kyiv tweeted, "Irina Shayk-world-famous model from Russia who's recently worked for @Beyonce, Jean Paul Gaultier, @Burberry, &others-posted a weird cryptic story on Instagram with the word 'Russianzz'. I really hope these brands reconsider working with her when Russia uses Z to kill Ukrainians."

Another pointed out that the symbol is the "equivalent of flashing swastika on your IG in 2022." Meanwhile, Diet Prada's Instagram account resurfaced a 2020 photo of Irina posing with a book about Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Not letting the narrative spread even more, Irina has returned to her Story to clarify her earlier image. Debunking the speculation, she wrote, "Sometimes a salad is just a salad. I promise: no coded messages or political commentary here. Wishing everyone love," adding a pink heart emoji.
