The 'Miss Independent' hitmaker and his wife, who initially called it quits in early 2020, remarried in April this year on a rooftop of the new Resorts World complex in Las Vegas.

AceShowbiz - Ne-Yo has opened up about his relationship with his wife Crystal Smith. When speaking to "PEOPLE Everyday" podcast host Janine Rubenstein, the "So Sick" hitmaker claimed wedding vow renewal has made their marriage "better."

"I can honestly say we're better now than we were before it happened," the 42-year-old crooner, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, shared. "We've learned to genuinely listen to each other, we've learned to slow down in a moment and really figure out whether or not the emotion that we're trying to jump to is the emotion that should be placed in that situation."

"These are things that require effort every single day. It's not easy," the singer continued. "It's very easy to fall back into bad habits, but with that being said, marriage requires effort every single day and that's kind of what that is. And if the person is worth it, then the workload ain't that heavy."

Ne-Yo and Crystal tied the knot in 2016. After parting ways in early 2020, they reconciled. The musician proposed to his lady once again on New Year's Eve. The pair share three children together, 1-year-old Isabella Rose, 4-year-old Roman and 6-year-old Shaffer. The singer himself is also a father of two older kids shared with Monyetta Shaw.

The couple remarried in April this year on a rooftop of the new Resorts World complex in Las Vegas. In a video posted on Instagram, the entrepreneur first gushed, "This weekend means the world to me."

"Everything that it's about, everything that it is and the fact that I get to do it with you. I love you forever and always a million times, a million years. I will always choose you," Crystal further raved. Ne-Yo, meanwhile, admitted to feeling "honored and beyond happy" after they renewed their vows.
