AceShowbiz - Is it true that Drake is cursed? Fans are convinced that the "Certified Lover Boy" artist is cursed after he lost more than $230,000 as he bet that Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc would win the Spanish Grand Prix.
On Sunday, May 22, Drizzy turned to Instagram Story to reveal that he bet 300,000 Canadian dollars with cryptocurrency betting platform, Stake. "First F1 bet let's see how this goes," he wrote, adding a face with sunglasses emoji.
Unfortunately, Charles, who was leading the world championship when Drake placed the bet, lost the lead after suffering an engine failure. The Ferrari ace spun out on the opening lap of his Q3 session but recovered to take pole at a blistering pace of 1:18.750.
Upon learning of Drake's lost bet, many Twitter users believed that he's "cursed." One person tweeted, "Drake put $230K on Charles Leclerc to win the Spanish Grand Prix. The curse strikes again." Another social media user wrote, "So, it appears that noted sports curser @Drake placed his first #F1 bet today. He seems to have bet $230k on @Charles_Leclerc. Leclerc's engine failed and he lost the championship lead. Who does Drake have for the All-Star race? Indy pole?"
"I'm gonna need Drake to never bet on a team i support again, like ever. First bet in F1 and Leclerc's engine goes bang," someone else penned. Meanwhile, a different person quipped, "Need to pay attention to Drake's bets so i know what NOT to bet on."
A separate Twitter user said, "Damnnnn this guy!!! Does it again,& AGAIN! Every time you see a Drake bet, Don't RIDE IT." Another analyzed, "Drake won those LA rams bets & then went nuts afterwards. Athletes beware. [crying emoji] Lost $275K on Jorge Masvidal, $550K on Justin Gaethje, $300K on Charles Leclerc. But he did win big on Leafs-Lightning going to 7 though. I think he has $200K riding on the warriors winning the west."
Earlier this month, Drake lost $550,000 bet on Justin Gaethje to beat Charles Oliveira at UFC 274. At the time, Charles submitted Justin three minutes 22 seconds into the first round with a rear-naked choke.
In April, Drake picked the Brooklyn Nets to beat the Boston Celtics but Kevin Durant and his company let him down. Instead of winning $2.2 million, Brooklyn's loss cost the "God's Plan" rapper over $400,000.
