The 22-year-old Florida emcee, born Rodarius Marcell Green, was arrested on May 1 after he allegedly choked out his ex-girlfriend in front of their two kids.

AceShowbiz - Rod Wave is finally breathing a sigh of relief. The "Rags2Riches" rapper, who was arrested for battery by strangulation earlier this month, reportedly had his charges dismissed.

Revealing the news was Rod's lawyer Bradford Cohen. In an Instagram post shared on Thursday, May 19, Bradford declared, "DISMISSED ...Myself and my main man David Bigney @bigneylawfirm represented Rodarius Green aka Rod Wave on his arrest last week, in Osceola County for an alleged domestic violence case."

"We are thrilled that this misunderstanding is behind him and he can move forward with a successful career," the attorney added alongside a picture of the emcee. "Sometimes misunderstandings can be misconstrued and it isnt until all the evidence and witnesses are reviewed that the right decision is made by the States Attorney."

"We thank the Osceola State Atty for his professionalism," he continued. "David Bigney and I went to law school together and was famous for the Bigney Shuffle...another Bigney shuffle #rodwave #criminallaw #dismissed @rodwave."

Rod was taken into custody on May 1 after allegedly choking out his ex-girlfriend in front of their two kids. Prior to his arrest, he shared a video on Instagram Story that showed flashing cop lights in the distance as he shook his head in disappointment. "This is why I don't even come here," he said of his hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida.

According to his arrest affidavit from the St. Petersburg Police Department, Rod was arrested during a traffic stop at 5119 Venetian Boulevard NE. Pinellas County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Amanda Sinni, meanwhile, told the Tampa Bay Times that the hip-hop star was arrested on a warrant originating out of Osceola County.

That aside, Rod has some great news for fans as he will drop his fourth studio album, "Beautiful Mind" on June 3 via Alamo Records. Fans were clearly excited to hear the news considering that the MC had teased his retirement from the music industry. "I'm only here for a little longer and when I say that I mean as in Rod Wave," he said during a live stream on Instagram in January. "I'm only here for a lil' minute, man."
