The 'Ghostbusters' actor first dropped hints about his involvement in the Peyton Reed-directed movie back in 2021 during an interview with a German news outlet.

AceShowbiz - Bill Murray is set to wreak havoc in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania". The veteran comedian has seemingly confirmed his role in the upcoming Marvel movie after dropping hints about his involvement in the project.

The Emmy Award-winning actor will seemingly antagonize Paul Rudd's Scott Lang / Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne / Wasp in "Ant-Man 3". He casually revealed this during an appearance on "The Eli Manning Show", saying, "My powers is, I'm a bad guy," in between bites of his burger.

Murray stopped short from revealing the name of his character. He previously first spilled the beans that he landed a role in the "Ant-Man and the Wasp" sequel during an interview for German outlet Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (or FAZ).

"You know, recently I made a Marvel movie," he said back in October 2021. Seemingly realizing he had let the cat out of the bag, he said, "I probably won't tell you, but never mind."

Murray went on explaining his involvement in the project, "In any case, some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project. But for me the thing was quite clear: I got to know the director - and really liked him very much."

While he didn't mention the film's title, the 71-year-old dropped more hints about the movie while praising the director he's got to work with. "He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director," he raved. "And with the cheerleader story 'Bring It On' he made a movie years ago, which I think is damn good. So I agreed, although I'm not interested in these huge comic book adaptations as an actor otherwise."

"Bring It On" was directed by Peyton Reed, who happens to direct "Ant-Man" and its sequels, including the forthcoming third movie.

Murray will likely not play a major villain in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" since that part has been taken by Jonathan Majors, who is cast as Kang the Conqueror. In addition to Rudd and Lilly, the movie brings back Michael Douglas as Hank Pym and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne. Kathryn Newton will play the grown up version of Scott's daughter Cassie.

Production of the movie kicked off in November 2021 as the release date has been pushed back from July 2023 to October of that year.
