The 'Golden Girls' actress has passed away at the age of 99 on New Year's Eve at her home just weeks before celebrating her milestone birthday on the big screen.

AceShowbiz - RIP Betty White! The last of the Golden Girls has passed away. The actress died at the age of 99 just weeks before her milestone birthday. Law enforcement sources told TMZ she passed away at her home on New Year's Eve, Friday, December 31.

She is believed to have died from natural causes.

Her agent confirmed the sad news, "Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever."

"I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don't think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again."

Fans and friends were quick to pay tribute to the recently-deceased star.

Don Lemon expressed his shock, "Noooooooooo. Say it isn't so." Piers Morgan remembered her as "the funniest woman I've ever met." Andy Cohen wrote, "Tonight we will raise MANY glasses to the WONDERFUL legacy of Betty White!!!"

Viola Davis added, "RIP Betty White! Man did I think you would live forever. You blew a huge hole in this world that will inspire generations. Rest in glorious peace….you've earned your wings."

Seth Meyers tweeted a similar message, "RIP Betty White, the only SNL host I ever saw get a standing ovation at the after party. A party at which she ordered a vodka and a hotdog and stayed til the bitter end."

Before her death, Betty told PEOPLE, "I'm so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age, It's amazing,"

She also penned in her final tweet, "My 100th birthday… I cannot believe it is coming up."

The actress was so excited to announce her upcoming big day on January 17, 2022 would be celebrated at cinemas across the country, "I'm going BIG for my birthday - right to the BIG SCREEN!"

Her most iconic roles including Rose on "Golden Girls" will be featured in the new documentary. Her famous friends like Ryan Reynolds, Tina Fey, Robert Redford, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Clint Eastwood, and Morgan Freeman are among the guests.
