The Grammy Award nominee reveals that she initially was not sure about doing a collaboration with the Swedish DJ because she was preparing her Las Vegas residency show when he came up with the song.

AceShowbiz - Katy Perry and Alesso have released a new collaborative single, "When I'm Gone". In the song, which arrived on Wednesday, December 29, the "Unconditionally" songstress brags about being good in bed when slamming her ex.

"When I'm gone, I'm never really gone/ You think you're movin' on/ But it won't be for long, you'll see," the 37-year-old superstar sings in the chorus. "When I'm gone, I'm never really gone/ You think you're movin' on/ But no one's gonna feel like, feel like."

"Me on top of you/ Touch you like I do/ No, you'll never forget," the fiancee of Orlando Bloom continues boasting. "When I'm gone, I'm never really gone/ You think you're movin' on/ But no one's gonna feel like, feel like."

Aside from producing the song, Alesso wrote it along with Katy, Alida Garpestad Peck, Rami Yacoub, Space Primates' Nathan Cunningham and Marc Sibley as well as Alma Goodman. The track marks Katy's second single this year following "Electric" and Alesso's fourth following "Chasing Stars", a collaboration with Marshmello ft. James Bay.

When speaking on Apple Music's "The Zane Lowe Show", Katy divulged that the Swedish DJ reached out to her with the track almost one year and a half ago. However, she initially was not sure that she could do the collaboration because she was preparing her Las Vegas residency show.

"[The show] is so big and so wild that we wanted to inject some new blood into it," the Grammy Award nominee explained. "I was like, I have the perfect timing to put out a dance song that is through and through just so much fun and up, up, up. Then also with the music video that's coming, I'm just going for it."

A music video for "When I'm Gone" will make its debut during ESPN's broadcast of the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, January 10.
