The 'Spencer' actress insists her real-life romantic relationship with the Edward Cullen depicter made the 'Twilight Saga' franchise more interesting to watch.

AceShowbiz - Kristen Stewart has credited her real-life romance with "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson for giving the franchise a boost.

The former couple started dating shortly after the first film in the series premiered in 2009, and went on to star in four more "Twilight" films.

Although the actress, who is now engaged to girlfriend Dylan Meyer, thinks she and the "Tenet" actor were "young and stupid" at the time, she believes their genuine feelings for one another made the films must-watch fare for fans.

"(Robert had an) intellectual approach that was combined with 'I don't give a f**k about this, but I'm going to make this sing', and I was, like, 'Ugh, same!' " she told the New Yorker magazine.

"And, whatever, we were young and stupid and, not to say that we made it so much better, but that's what it needed, and that's what anybody playing those parts needed to feel."

The "Spencer" star knew Robert was the perfect choice to play vampire Edward Cullen, opposite her Bella Swan, the first time the actors met.

"It was so clear who worked," she said of his audition. "I was literally just, like (swooning)."

Meanwhile, Kristen is working on her movie directorial debut with the adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch's memoir "The Chronology of Water", and her screenwriter fiancee has been reading drafts of the script.

"We're casting right now," she previously opened up. "We've been putting together and have been thinking about this for a really long time. I'm so stoked."
