The 'Without You' hitmaker leads the winners at this year's National Indigenous Music Awards in his home country of Australia by taking home the top prize.

AceShowbiz - The Kid LAROI has picked up the Artist of the Year honour at Australia's National Indigenous Music Awards.

The "Stay" hitmaker, who grew up in Sydney, took home the top prize at Sunday's (14Nov21) ceremony, beating out Sycco, Birdz, Miiesha, Baker Boy, and Jessica Mauboy.

It was also a big night for indigenous musician Kev Carmody, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

"I'm absolutely so proud, humbled and honoured to accept the award on behalf of all of us. Past, present and of course future, because it's a collective way of thinking in my opinion, that we all go together and no one gets left behind," Carmody said.

This year's NIMAs were originally scheduled for August (21), but had to be rescheduled due to COVID concerns. They were broadcast via multiple radio networks Down Under.
