Speaking about portraying the 'Always Be My Baby' hitmaker in the latest season of the Netflix show, the former Sugababes member states that it is 'gonna be a really difficult task for anyone.'

AceShowbiz - Jade Ewen had no idea she'd been cast as Mariah Carey in "Luis Miguel: The Series" until she arrived on set.

The former Sugababes star appears as the diva in the latest season of the Netflix show but, despite impressing producers with her audition, she had no idea about the real nature of her role.

According to Jade, she was only told she was playing a singer called Carrie - not the "Always Be My Baby" hitmaker, who dated Mexican superstar Luis in the 1990s.

She tells Britain's Daily Star newspaper, "It was wonderful, but also quite scary. I'm actually quite pleased I didn't know too much about it before I went because I probably would have [wet] myself."

Jade, who represented the U.K. at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, insists she portrays Mariah as a "real person" as she's "very much still a living legend."

"It's gonna be a really difficult task for anyone to recreate Mariah," she muses. "We always said that she's the real person and it's told from the perspective of Luis Miguel, so that kind of gave me the freedom to not feel that I needed to imitate her."

"Because we don't know her on a personal level, I know that there's an aspect that you sort of show as a performer when you're on stage, but behind closed doors in a relationship, none of us knows what she's really like - I found that massively useful."

And fans of the hitmaker will get to hear Jade imitating Mariah's multi-octave vocal range, teasing, "I actually sang twice in the show, which is quite exciting. In my final episode, there is quite a big moment where [Mariah and Luis are] singing in the studio."
