AceShowbiz - Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is facing homophobic allegation anew. The former boxing champion was called out by a young fan after he appeared to turn down the boy's request to take a picture with the star because the teen sported nail polish.
In the video posted on the Relax Turtle YouTube channel, the boy seemed to approach Floyd as the latter was being escorted out of the Staples Center after a game between the Clippers and the Grizzlies on Saturday, October 23. As the camera captured the former athlete, he told the young boy, "You got painted nails, I don't take pictures with guys with no painted nails," while his bodyguard told the boy to back up.
The fan, knowing there's no use to argue with Floyd, left the athlete while being disgruntled. "Damn bro, why you a homophobe," the fan said after the interaction. "Floyd doesn't want to take a photo with me 'cause my nails are painted. Bruh, really? I didn't mean to rush him like that."
The boy later sent TMZ a picture of his nails, which were painted black, that got him shunned by Floyd. Witnesses said that Floyd was willing to take pictures with other people after the game, while a photo captured him posing and smiling on the court with another fan.
After the fan's video gained attention and made headlines, Floyd's team later tried to clarify the situation. A representative for the boxing promoter claimed that he didn't take the photo with the young boy because he was in a rush to leave the game. The rep also said the boy's allegation that Floyd is homophobic couldn't be further from the truth.
This, however, isn't the first time Floyd has faced a homophobic accusation. Back in 2017, the Pretty Boy called Conor McGregor a "f****t" at a press conference in London. He later apologized and said he had "nothing against gays or lesbians at all," claiming that the MMA fighter had called him a "monkey" off-mic. "I apologized, but him calling us monkeys, you have to realize, we went through years and years of up and down," he said at the time. "Black Americans went through a lot. But I'm a strong individual."
