The NFL free-agent cornerback has been taken into police custody after he tried to break down the door of his in-laws' home by repeatedly hitting it with his shoulder.

AceShowbiz - Richard Sherman will get his freedom back soon. The NFL free-agent cornerback, who has been arrested for trying to break into his in-laws' home northeast of Seattle, was reportedly ordered to be released from prison without bail on several conditions.

The 33-year-old, who didn't attend court hearing on Thursday, July 15, is not allowed to have contact with his father-in-law upon his release. He is also prohibited from using any non-prescribed drugs or consuming alcohol and ordered to stay away from his father-in-law, Raymond Moss.

The orders were given by King County District Court Judge Fa'amomoi Masaniai, who previously declined to set $10,000 bail as prosecutors requested. The judge also stated, "I see Mr. Sherman is a pillar in this community, he's a business owner, he's a husband, he's a father."

Richard's attorney Cooper Offenbecher also doubled down on the judge's statement, noting that his client has done good works in the community. It includes the Blanket Coverage Foundation, which the athlete established in 2013 "to provide students in low-income communities with school supplies and clothing so they can more adequately achieve their goals."

Though so, Richards' attorney will still need to go to court on Friday, July 16 for a hearing on four pending charges, including misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor crimes of second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree malicious mischief (with domestic violence designations), DUI and resisting arrest. The felony burglary domestic violence charge, for which he was initially booked, was dismissed.

Richard was taken into police custody on Wednesday after allegedly crashing his car in a construction zone along a busy highway east of Seattle. He then tried to break down the door of his in-laws' home by repeatedly hitting it with his shoulder.

"The family began to yell in fear," Richard's father-in-law told police. "I used pepper spray on [Richard]'s face through the partially opened door as he was still banging and attempting to gain entry. I told him to stop. I armed myself with my handgun at this time fearing for the safety of myself and my family."

As for Richard's wife Ashley Moss, she has already addressed her husband's arrest. "I love and support my husband," she said in a statement. "I am committed to helping Richard get the support and care that he needs. Richard has always been a loving father and husband. And we are looking forward to seeing him at home with his family."
