The 'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit' star is recovering from a surgery after falling in the rain on July 2, and her comedienne friend is making a grand gesture of support from across the west coast.

AceShowbiz - Comedy star Melissa McCarthy helped to bring a smile to Mariska Hargitay's face by standing outside a Los Angeles fast food restaurant holding up a sign in support of the injured actress.

The "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" star is recovering from a broken right ankle after tripping and falling in the rain on July 2, and as she recovers from surgery at her New York home, McCarthy decided to show her pal a little love from America's West Coast.

The "Bridesmaids" funnywoman shared video footage of herself standing outside a Wienerschnitzel eatery, brandishing a sign which read, "Honk if you're PRAYING for Mariska Hargitay's recovery."

She captioned Tuesday's, July 13 Instagram post, "If you can't produce quality care for your friend after ankle surgery, the next best [thing] is obviously standing outside Wienerschnitzel with a sign @therealmariskahargitay."

Hargitay reposted the clip of the stunt on her own social media page, and admitted the prank had really lifted her spirits.

"Above and beyond," she wrote beside the footage. "Honk if you're blown away by @melissamccarthy's heart and humor. Might be worth breaking my ankle for."

Hargitay sustained her latest injury just weeks after suffering a broken knee and hairline fracture in her other ankle during an incident in mid-May. About her broken ankle, she showed it off in an Instagram post on July 5.

Along with a photo of her right foot being wrapped in bandages and her left sporting a Birkenstock sandal, the 57-year-old joked in the caption, "My summer look." She added multiple hashtags that included "#specialankleunit," "#crackingthecase," "#theselittlepiggieswenttotheER," and "#agonyofdefeet."
