Sharing her journey to happiness in 'Enough Already: Learning to Love the Way I Am Today', the ex-'One Day at a Time' star reflects on how she managed to let go of her insecurities.

AceShowbiz - Actress-turned-TV cook Valerie Bertinelli used the writing of her new memoir as a form of therapy to work through her old self-esteem issues.

The former "One Day at a Time" star has shared her journey to happiness in her upcoming book, "Enough Already: Learning to Love the Way I Am Today", in which she reflects on how she managed to let go of her insecurities regarding her weight and signs of ageing, and embrace the woman she has become.

"This book is about letting go of the mindset that made me feel broken and always trying to fix something about myself," Bertinelli shared in a statement issued to People.com. "It's the most personal, intimate writing I've done."

"I explore the things that I have gone through and continue to deal with in getting to where I am today - topics that I think will be familiar to many people - my relationship to food, being a mom, mid-life career changes, aging parents, saying goodbye to loved ones, and asking why the hell have I been so hard on myself for so long."

Bertinelli, 61, hopes that in sharing her story, she will help others battling similar struggles, and she feels all the better for opening up about her troubled times.

"It's a very, very personal book...," Eddie Van Halen's ex-wife told U.S. breakfast show "Today". "I just don't wanna beat myself up anymore, and I know so many women my age, younger, older, that we're so busy beating ourselves up that we just don't find the love and the wonder and the grace that are really within us."

"So I wrote about the past two years, happiness, finding joy, and I hope it touches some people's lives. It was a really challenging write for me, but it was cathartic."

"Enough Already: Learning to Love the Way I Am Today" is set for release in January 2022.
