The 'Lego House' singer has smashed TikTok records by amassing over 5.5 million unique viewers on the wildly popular platform following the release of his new single.

AceShowbiz - The hometown concert Ed Sheeran staged to celebrate the start of the UEFA Euro 2020 soccer tournament has shattered two TikTok records.

The Brit performed the show, during which he debuted his new song "Bad Habits", at his local soccer club Ipswich Town's stadium on 25 June, days after performing privately for the England team - and the gig was a big hit among TikTok-ers.

Bosses at the platform have announced the soccer-mad star, who also recently signed on as a sponsor of Ipswich Town Football Club, is a record-breaker - the concert, created and filmed for the video streaming site, notched up over 5.5 million unique viewers on the day and during two replays on 26 June.

The second record relates to the teaser for "Bad Habits", which dropped on TikTok ahead of the big show, and led fans to generate more than 400,000 TikTok clips in response.

"The TikTok UEFA 2020 show was an incredible moment for our community around the world and a watershed moment for live music streaming," Paul Hourican, TikTok U.K.'s head of music operations, shared in a statement. "Alongside the numbers, Ed's unmissable live show has creatively raised the bar as to what is possible within the the live streaming format and demonstrated the scale and ambition TikTok can deliver for artists."

The Ipswich Town Football Club concert will be replayed on TikTok on Friday (09Jul21) at 3pm ET.

The concert will replay again this Friday at 3 pm ET.

The star, who is a supporter of the football club and new sponsor, performed as part of TikTok's UEFA Euro 2020 Show on social media on Friday (25Jun21), hours after the new song and video dropped.

The livestream of Sheeran's performance of his first song without a collaborator since 2017 began with the singer in one of the Portman Road stadium's dressing rooms in front of an Ipswich Town soccer shirt bearing his name.

During his set, video effects made the pitch appear like a lake.

Earlier this week (23Jun21), Ed helped to boost the spirits of the England soccer squad by staging a private performance for the players.

The "Shape of You" hitmaker treated the stars to a private gig at St. George's Park in Staffordshire after they emerged victorious in their match against the Czech Republic on Tuesday, and subsequently topped the tournament's Group D.
