AceShowbiz - Jodi Montgomery reportedly insisted on Britney Spears' co-conversatorship amid heavy backlash. In a new report, a source close to the situation reveals that Jodi "genuinely cares" for the pop star, though she fears for her own safety as she has been receiving death threats.

"The safety part is an issue for Jodi," the insider claims to HollywoodLife.com. The source continues to say that Jodi is "really scared," adding, "She's getting hardcore death threats. It's not been making her want to quit, it's just really sad."

According to the source, Jodi "wants to be there" for the "...Baby One More Time" hitmaker. "Jodi hasn't decided what's going to happen about getting her own security. She doesn't want to quit. She's invested in Britney and feels bad for her," the insider divulges. "When someone’s that fragile and everyone's dropping around them it's not healthy for Britney either. She wants to be there for her and does genuinely care. Jodi is working hard to get Britney to the point of ending her conservatorship."

Prior to this, Britney slammed her father Jamie Spears and her family over the conversatorship. She even likened her father to a "sex trafficker" because he allegedly "loved" having control over her.

Following Britney's court appearance, Jodi's lawyer Lauriann Wright issued a statement on behalf of her client. "I can state unequivocally that Jodi Montgomery has been a tireless advocate for Britney and for her well-being," she said on June 30. "While she does not control Britney’s financial assets, she is responsible for her personal care, and if Britney wants any issue brought up to the court, Ms. Montgomery is and has always been ready, willing, and able to do so."

A judge, however, denied the singer's request to remove her father Jamie Spears as the co-conservator of her conservatorship.
