AceShowbiz - Padma Lakshmi is a living proof that social media mostly highlights the good sides of people's lives. Revealing the truth behind an old stunning portrait of hers, the "Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi" star went public about the struggles she faced at the time the photo was taken.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, June 30, the 50-year-old star posted a throwback photo from her jewelry campaign shoot. In the caption, she added a quote from Oprah Winfrey that read, "You can have it all, just not all at once." She went on to spill the reality behind the snap. "This is me in our jewelry campaign for The Padma Collection. I'm exhausted here," she confessed.
Offering more details, the "Top Chef" host wrote, "Not only from doing 'Top Chef', losing the weight and running a jewelry company on the side but from all of the stresses that come with being a sole business owner." She then reflected on bigger problems she had to face in a following year after taking the picture.
"A year from when this picture was taken I had to make the difficult decision as a new mom to close my company, my lover was dying of cancer, and I just couldn't handle it all," Padma stated. The "Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet: A World of Recipes for Every Day" author further concluded, "I learned so much about my priorities during that time."
In the gorgeous photo, Padma exuded sexiness in a blazer with a plunging neckline that put her cleavage on full display and showed off a few pieces from her jewelry line that launched at Bergdorf Goodman. The "Love, Loss, and What We Ate" author could be seen staring sultrily straight at the camera.
Padma welcomed her daughter Krishna, whom she shares with her ex-partner Adam Dell, in February 2010. Less than a year later, her boyfriend at the time Theodore Teddy Forstmann died from brain cancer.
