In a sneak peek for an upcoming interview on '60 Minutes' Australia, Thomas Markle asks to be forgiven for his 'one dumb mistake,' saying, 'I'll be very disappointed that I don't get to hold my granddaughter.'

AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle's father is speaking up again on his estrangement from the former actress. Thomas Markle is expected to dissect and share his take on where it went wrong on his relationship with his daughter in an interview with "60 Minutes" Australia.

In a sneak peek of the upcoming sit-down, Thomas is seen making a desperate plea for forgiveness. "I'd love to talk to her," he tells reporter Tom Steinfort from his modest, cliffside home south of Tijuana in Mexico. Sitting on the patio while enjoying the warm sunshine and the smell of saltwater, he admits, "I've made mistakes. I apologized a hundred times for it," and asks to be forgiven for his "one dumb mistake."

Believing that he deserves another chance, Thomas insists he has never done "something terribly wrong" that would justify the Duchess of Sussex cutting all ties with him. "I'm confused. If I had done something terribly wrong, that would be fine, but I haven't," he says. He adds, "I just want an answer."

When asked about the birth of his granddaughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, Thomas claims he has not been personally informed by the couple about their second child's arrival. "No phone calls, I just heard it on the radio," so he says.

Still, Thomas hopes that his newborn granddaughter may offer a way to mend their severed relationship. "I'll be very disappointed that I don't get to hold my granddaughter," he shares.

Though Meghan and Harry moved to the United States, which is only hours away from Thomas, last year, the former director of photography reveals, "I haven't spoken to her [Meghan] since two days before they got married," which was three years ago. "Of course it hurts," the 76-year-old says of his non-existent relationship with his daughter, claiming they used to have "a great relationship."

Elsewhere in the 40-second preview, Thomas threatens to drop Meghan's "dirty laundry." He warns, "You want dirty laundry? This is the first time I've discussed these things."

The full exclusive interview with Thomas will air on Sunday, June 13 in Australia.
