AceShowbiz - Usher brought good news at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Thursday, May 27. The R&B star, who served as the host of the annual award-giving event, made use the night to announce that he and his music-executive girlfriend Jenn Goicoechea are expecting a second child together.
The pair arrived and graced the red carpet while twinning in black outfits. The "Yeah!" hitmaker, who also shares a daughter named Sovereign with Jenn, opted for a black blazer, a black shirt and black pants for the occasion. Meanwhile, Jenn flaunted her baby bump in a fitted black gown.
Prior to the award-giving event, Usher talked about the meaning behind his baby girl's name in an interview with Extra. "So, Sovereign, man, is such a beautiful word and name to me, you know, a supreme ruler is obviously the defined name," the singer said. "She's definitely ruling the household, but Sovereign Bo - Bo is at the end of it, so [she's] my little 'reign-bo.' "
Usher introduced his daughter during his appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" as he shared first photo of himself kissing his baby's forehead. "She looks like a little porcelain doll. She doesn't even look real," Ellen DeGeneres said to User, who then jokingly replied, "ou believe that until you have to change her diaper!"
Of her baby, Usher also explained, "She came out early. She was scheduled to be a Scorpio but decided she had a different plan. Libras, you know, they kinda have their minds made up what they wanna do. It's funny because the umbilical cord was wrapped around her wrists. So she's pulling the thing, like, 'Pull me outta here, it's time to go!' "
His other sons allegedly were "excited about being big brothers." Usher noted, "They're a little bit too protective, even with me sometimes." He continued, "And as they get older, I'm less cool of a dad, so now I'm starting this whole cycle over again and I'm kind of the apple of [Sovereign's] eye right now."
