Kenan Thompson fuels the rumors that Pete, Kate McKinnon and some others may depart from the show as he crosses his fingers when he promises to be back around Thanksgiving.

AceShowbiz - It seems like a number of fan-favorite cast members will not return for season 47 of "Saturday Night Live". In the emotional season 46 finale on May 22, Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Kenan Thompson, Cecily Strong and Aidy Bryant sparked speculations that this season might be their last.

Pete appeared to hint at his exit when he closed out the "Weekend Update" segment with a heartfelt message. "I'm very grateful to be here and it's been an honor to grow up in front of you guys," the 27-year-old said.

A fan, who would definitely be disappointed if the speculations were confirmed, tweeted, ":((((( WAIT WHAT THE HELL IS PETE LEAVING SNL?" Another fan added, "I love #PeteDavidson! I hope he isn't leaving #SNL #SNLFinale made nervous."

Pete wasn't the only cast member who sparked departure rumors as Kate, Kenan, Aide and Cecily freaked fans out when they delivered the cold open together in that episode. While it was nice to see the fan-favorites kicking off the finale, fans could not help but think that there might be a deeper meaning for it. Kenan also appeared to fuel the rumors as he crossed his fingers when he said they'd all be back on the air around Thanksgiving.

"… when Aidy, Kate, Cecily, and Kenan were just out there at the beginning i started freaking out because i thought they were about to say they're leaving the show...," a Twitter user wrote.

Alongside a picture of Kate and Aide, another fan added, "remind me to never get emotionally invested in a fandom again. ik its not confirmed yet but ill be utterly devastated if they leave snl bc they legit got me through 2020." Someone also refused to believe the rumors, saying, "wait ppl are saying cecily is leaving snl?!?? pls say it isn’t true i love her sm."

Fans, however, could breathe a sigh of relief since an NBC source told Page Six that the episode wasn't meant to be their final episode on the hit sitcom. The insider added that the next season will be decided later in the summer.
