When discussing mental health during a podcast interview, the former star of "Hannah Montana" jokingly called Billy Ray Cyrus "worst dad ever" for causing her to sustain a head injury at only two years old in a "dirt bike" accident.
In the Wednesday, September 2 episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast, the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker opened up about scans of her brain and her childhood experience with host Joe Rogan. At some point during the chat, she talked about her 59-year-old father and plainly stated, "I've given him an award for worst dad ever."
Explaining why she made such a comment, the ex-wife of Liam Hemsworth shared a shocking incident that took place when she was young. "I had a head injury when I was, you know, 2 years old. It's bad," she began recalling. "My dad had me - this is really bad, but he can't go to jail, I don't think, because it's a long enough time away."
"He had me in a baby backpack and I was on a dirt bike with my dad," the 27-year-old offered more details on the accident. "And he was riding, and a tree had fallen, and he ducked, I didn't, and I hit my head on the tree. It was bad. So that's what's wrong. Everyone's asked me that for years."
The "Slide Away" singer went on to speculate that the injury affected her personality. "Maybe it knocked me into this identity, or something," she pointed out, claiming that her therapist Dr. Daniel Amen shared a similar idea. "He knows that there's something to that, "she stated. "Dr. Amen, we've talked about that a lot."
"So when I get really overwhelmed," the former Disney darling elaborated, "I also have a tendency, when I know something's really stupid, I just gotta try it, to know that it's stupid, which makes it stupid, 'cause I already knew about it. Sometimes I'm like, is it better to know it's dumb and do it? Or not know it's dumb and do it?"
Though branding Billy Ray the "worst dad ever," Miley unhesitatingly declared that the "Achy Breaky Heart" hitmaker was "also the best." In the interview, she told Joe that she was grateful he allowed her to do a lot of crazy things and made her tough.
