The 'Perfect' hitmaker pops up during a class' Zoom call as a response to the request made by his friend who happens to be a music director at Ecclesbourne Primary School.

AceShowbiz - Ed Sheeran surprised pupils at a London primary school with a online music lesson during a video call with his teacher friend.

The 29-year-old singer is good pals with Timothy Spoerer, the music director at Ecclesbourne Primary School, so was happy to oblige when he was asked to treat the class to a chat and a quick tutorial.

As he spoke to the students, Ed explained that he thought he was "an idiot for a very long time" because he couldn't do things like maths, science or English at school. But he added that once he found his calling was in music, his life turned around for the better.

"I loved playing music, that's what made me happiest," he smiled during the Zoom call. "My dad always said to me, 'If you want to be a musician work really hard at it'".

"I wanted to make music my job but it was a lot of hard work and struggling; essentially the way I got my income and paid my bills was by playing covers at weddings."

Since then, Ed has gone on to become one of the world's most famous singers - selling millions of albums and topping charts around the globe.

As well as teaching the children how to play some of his hits, such as "Perfect", on the guitar, Ed was asked when he's next going to be releasing new music.

"Not for a while some time next year," he replied. "I need a year off not doing anything. Getting back to normal life."
