The 'Heart Skips a Beat' singer recalls suffering from a sepsis scare and almost getting his leg amputated when a metal plate fitted in his knee was infected.

AceShowbiz - Olly Murs was in danger of losing his leg after a metal plate inserted in his knee became septic after surgery.

The "Troublemaker" hitmaker was three months into recovery following his operation last year 2019, when he had a sepsis scare and had to be rushed back into hospital.

Olly revealed during an Instagram Live stream, "When I had the operation my left leg had to be straightened and they put a plate in."

"After three months the plate got infected so then I had to get rushed back into hospital, they thought it was sepsis," he explained. "They had to open me up again in case the infection spread. So it got nasty."

Last June, the former "The X Factor U.K." contestant posted a snap of him on a hospital bed with a leg brace on Instagram, telling his fans he was taking time out following surgery.

However, just a few months later he was filming for "The Voice U.K.", where he's a coach, and he confessed he doesn't know how he managed to "power through" the job.

"It was so important for me to get my leg done because there wouldn't be shows," he went on to share. "Obviously with this knee I'm not being able to perform on stage to my best ability for my fans."

"I needed to give it a year. I need to do rehab."
