AceShowbiz - Val Kilmer misses his old voice following throat cancer.

"The Doors" star underwent a tracheotomy at the height of his health battle and the 60 year old admits he's still getting used to the way he sounds.

Appearing on "Good Morning America" to promote his new memoir, "I'm Your Huckleberry", Val spoke with his hand to his neck to help him speak and breathe.

"I feel a lot better than I sound, but I feel wonderful," he said. "I was diagnosed with throat cancer which healed very quickly. This is a tracheotomy to help me breathe because my glands in my throat swelled up as well."

Asked what he misses most about his old voice, Kilmer joked, "That I had one! And that I didn't laugh like a pirate."
