During a sit-down with the DragCast podcast, the actress playing Rey in the 'Star Wars' sequel trilogy admits to have struggled accepting the backlash in the beginning of 2020.

AceShowbiz - Daisy Ridley had a terrible start to the year as she could no longer feel the love from critical "Star Wars" fans, who hated her final film in the franchise.

"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" was mauled by critics and fans alike when it opened in late December (19), and Daisy was still struggling with the backlash as 2020 began.

"This last film was really tricky," Ridley said during a sit-down with the DragCast podcast. "January was not that nice. It was weird, I felt like all of this love that we'd sort of been shown the first time around, I was like, 'Where's the love gone?' "

She adds that she and the cast shared an experience "filled with love" on set, making it all the more difficult to accept the lukewarm response.

"I watched the documentary, the making-of ('The Skywalker Legacy'), this week," Ridley continued, referencing the documentary on the film's Blu-Ray release, "and it's so filled with love, and I think it's that tricky thing of when you're part of something that is so filled with love and then people (don't like it). You know, everyone's entitled to not like something, but it feels like it's changed slightly."

Ridley admitted she had a hard time avoiding negative articles and reactions because they flooded her social media feeds.

"I guess now conversations are just more public, so there’s stuff I wouldn't have seen, but honestly trying to scroll through my newsfeed in January and trying to not see 'Star Wars' stuff, I'd see headlines and be like 'Oh my God, this is so upsetting,' " she shares.
