AceShowbiz - Fall Out Boy have donated $100,000 (£82,000) to COVID-19 relief charities in their native Chicago, Illinois.

The city is the ninth most affected in the U.S. with over 10,300 cases and more than 240 deaths, and now Pete Wentz and his bandmates have made a donation to the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund via their Fall Out Boy Fund.

The cash will help charity bosses "deploy resources to agencies that have immediate capacity to reach individuals and families disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 across the Chicago region."

"Chicago is the city that we grew up in," bassist Wentz says. "It's important to us that we give back and support the community and local heroes who are on the frontlines any way we can. No act of kindness is too small right now."

He also urged fans to "check in with the people you love and support the businesses you love" during the coronavirus lockdown, adding: "Stay vigilant and hopeful. Everyone is affected by this, and we win by coming together and thinking of the world as bigger than ourselves."

Meanwhile, Wentz recently recreated a Fall Out Boy live show using action figures to entertain fans on lockdown.

Using items from the group's 2006 SOTA Toys range, the collector put on a show for a crowd of toy figures, including Homer Simpson.
