The 'Parkland' actor teaches his online followers on social media how to transform bandanas into fashionable face masks in a tutorial post amid the coronavirus pandemic.

AceShowbiz - Colin Hanks' new online tutorial teaches fans how to fashion a Covid-19 face mask out of a bandana or kerchief.

The 42-year-old "Parkland" actor took to Instagram and provided step-by-step instructions on how to create a mask from the readily available fashion accessories, as face mask manufacturers struggle to keep up with demand amid the coronavirus crisis.

Officials from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) now recommend the "use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others."

"Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure," they advise.

Following the guidelines, the "Jumanji: The Next Level" actor posted the handy tutorial onto his Instagram page, telling followers, "I've been looking around online for ways to turn your kerchiefs into a face mask. It's pretty easy. All you need is one kerchief (or bandana roughly 21 x 21 inches) and 2 hair ties or rubber bands if you have those. Here are the steps…"

To create a face mask, he advises fans to simply lay your bandana or kerchief face down, and fold the top and bottom to the centre. Then, flip it over and repeat the process, and put one hair tie on each side of the bandana or kerchief.

Fold the outer sides of kerchief to centre, and secure the hair ties on your ears, creating a functioning mask.
