A representative for the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' actor sets the record straight on the allegations that the funnyman propositioned a female journalist in an interview.

AceShowbiz - Jim Carrey's publicist has laughed off the storm surrounding comments the actor made to a British journalist during a recent interview, insisting his words have been misinterpreted in the media.

Reporter Charlotte Long from Heat magazine was interviewing the "Kidding" actor in London about his new film "Sonic the Hedgehog" when she asked if he had anything left on his bucket list.

"Just you, that's it. It's all done now," he said, clearly embarrassing Long, who responded, "I don't know what to say to that."

"Just own it," Carrey added.

The creepy exchange prompted outrage on social media as fans assumed Carrey was suggesting he wanted to have sex with the journalist.

Now Carrey's publicist, Marleah Leslie, is defendingher client in an email to the Huffington Post, writing, "This is a ridiculous non-story. Jim's full quote was 'Just you! That's it, I'm all done now!' (sic) clearly and good-naturedly referring to the interview as being on the top of his bucket list. It was in no way a reference to the journalist herself."

"This is another example of a clickbait headline pandering to the dark side of 'scroll culture' - a dirty business done by and for people with dirty minds."

Neither Carrey nor Long has commented on the drama.
