The Marc Bouwer gown worn by the 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' actress has beaten out the Versace number Kate Hudson wore on the red carpet in 2003 by two per cent.

AceShowbiz - The Marc Bouwer gown Angelina Jolie wore to the Oscars in 2004 has been voted the best Academy Awards outfit ever in a new poll.

Over 3,400 fashionistas voted for the top Oscars look in the OnBuy.com survey, and Jolie's classic outfit beat out the Versace number Kate Hudson wore on the red carpet the year before by just two per cent.

The "Mr and Mrs Smith" star picked up 16 per cent of the total vote.

Keira Knightley's Valentino look from 2015, the Gucci gown Charlize Theron wore in 2004, and Beyonce Knowles's Versace outfit from 2005 complete the top five, while dresses modelled by Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis, Rosamund Pike, Gwyneth Paltrow and Marion Cotillard make the top 10.

Respondents chose from a list of 100 iconic Oscar dresses.
