After watching a video in which the journalist admitted she wishes to have done more, the Oscar-nominated actress admits she became 'incredibly emotional' over it.

AceShowbiz - Charlize Theron is overcome with emotion over Megyn Kelly's response to her portrayal as the news anchor in "Bombshell".

Charlize played the American journalist in the biographical 2019 movie, which she also co-produced, about the sexual harassment scandal surrounding former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes.

Kelly informed investigators she had been one of the victims of late chairman Ailes' inappropriate behaviour before he was fired from his role in 2016, and watching her real life story come alive onscreen in "Bombshell" made her tear up.

"I do wish I had done more, even though I was powerless... what if I had thrown myself on the fire back then?" Megyn reflected in a video she posted on her Instagram account last week (end January 10).

And after watching Kelly's video, actress Charlize admits she became "incredibly emotional" over the former news anchor's reaction.

"I felt that that was an incredibly sincere moment from Megyn," the Oscar winner tells Deadline. "It hit me really deep. I felt something really real in her saying that."

Charlize went on to explain she was very moved that Kelly asked if she could have done more in hindsight while she was a victim of sexual harassment.

"We (as women) shouldn't even be in that situation in the first place," the leading lady declares. "We want more than that. We want a world where that's not even asked. Where we are not even in that situation where we have to choose what we're going to do in the first place. And I just don't think that is too much to ask. I think that is a human right that we should all have."

"We should be able to go to work and live in a world where we're not threatened, we're not power-played and we're not sexually harassed. We're not sexually assaulted just in order to provide for our families or for ourselves."

"Bombshell" has picked up three nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards next month (February 2020), with Charlize earning a Best Actress nod for her role as Kelly and co-star Margot Robbie being acknowledged in the Best Supporting Actress category.

The makeup and styling professionals who worked on the film are also up for a trophy in the Best Makeup and Hairstyling category.
