Unsurprisingly, the 'Malibu' songstress' Instagram update about the upcoming new release excites her fans as one of them responds, 'we're ready, queen.'

AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus kicked off 2020 with a brand new look and a promise of what she has in store. Through a series of Instagram posts on Monday, January 6, the "Malibu" songstress offered fans a look at her fresh mullet hairstyle as well as a hint at "new music."

In three separate posts, the estranged wife of Liam Hemsworth could be seen sporting a modern take on the famous hairdo her father Billy Ray Cyrus rocked decades ago. Her version features short front bangs and longer, layered back shag. She completed her funky look with dark sunglasses, white T-shirt, a pair of blue jeans and black boots.

"New hair. New year. NEW MUSIC," the 27-year-old captioned all three posts, and quickly drew positive responses. Her older brother Trace Cyrus replied, "Yooo cool mullet kid." Her other sibling Brandi Cyrus, on the other hand, reacted to the new music remark by writing, "HURRYYY." Similar sentiment was shared by Victoria's Secret Angel Taylor Hill, who commented, "Can't wait."

Miley's hair transformation started in late November 2019. At the time, she went to celebrity stylist Sally Hershberger after getting an at-home birthday haircut from her mother, Tish Cyrus. "Miley wanted to go more punk. She wanted something edgy," Sally told E! News about what the former "Hannah Montana" star's was seeking for.

"We went with a modern mullet that she can wear sleek, but also wavy and messy," the hair expert went on explaining. "To get the edgy look, I precise-cut her hair with a pair of scissors and then used a razor to add definition." About the final result, she raved, "We all loved the cut. It was just the right vibe."

When fans started attacking her over the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker's do, Sally defended herself, "First of all if you knew anything about hair, it's the position she's in that's why it looks that way, it's 100 percent even and she also had it straightened so it's more severe, which I actually like. That being said, chill out and know it's a modern mullet, which is very cool but it's something you probably aren't even well-versed in sorry but not sorry."
