The latest 'Star Wars' movie is unchallenged at the domestic chart, while the horror reboot opens far below after getting flunked by audiences with a rare F CinemaScore.

AceShowbiz - "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" still soars in its third week at the North American box office. The J. J. Abrams-directed film has added approximately $33.7 million for a current domestic total of $450.8 million to date.

The sci-fi movie, which has been dubbed the final installment of the Skywalker saga, also still leads the international market, with another $50.5 million for a foreign tally of $468 million. Close to crossing the $1 billion mark with $918.8 million worldwide, "The Rise of Skywalker" still trails behind its predecessor "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" which ended its theatrical run with $1.3 billion.

The first new release in the new year, "The Grudge (2020)" failed to scare the reigning champion as it opens far below at No. 4 with an estimated $11.3 million. Despite not breaking any January records, the movie's less-than-stellar debut is still on a par with its modest budget of $10 million.

The horror reboot of the 2004 remake based on the Japanese horror film "Ju-On: The Grudge" didn't receive much love from the audiences and critics. Moviegoers gave it a rare F CinemaScore, while it holds a "rotten" 18% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Other holdovers remain strong on the domestic chart, with "Jumanji: The Next Level" staying put at No. 2 with additional $26.5 million, dropping only 24.8% from last week. "Little Women (2019)" rises 4 to 3 with an estimated $13.6 million as it saw a slight decrease (19%) compared to last week. It is believed that the Greta Gerwig-directed movie enjoyed a boost from Sunday's (January 5) Golden Globes. While the film wasn't nominated for best pic, Saoirse Ronan was up for best actress in a drama.

Elsewhere at the chart, "Frozen II" drops two spots to No. 5 with approximately $11.3 million, which is only 33.2% less than last week's gross.
