The 'Maleficent' actress flies to Ethiopia with her adoptive daughter ahead of New Year so the kid could learn about the country's history and culture.

AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie has treated her daughter Zahara to an early birthday trip back to her native Ethiopia to meet with the nation's president.

The actress and humanitarian arranged for a private sit-down with Sahle-Work Zewde, the first female to hold the country's highest office, and was accompanied by her adopted 14 year old and her 13-year-old biological child, Shiloh.

According to People.com, their discussions ranged from Ethiopian history and culture, to education and health issues, including the "Maleficent" star's continued efforts to fight drug-resistant tuberculosis through her non-profit organisation, the Zahara Program, named in honour of her daughter.

The trip coincides with New Year's Eve, December 31, 2019, which Jolie will celebrate in Ethiopia with Zahara, who turns 15 on January 8, 2020, Shiloh, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

The 44 year old is also mother to adopted sons Maddox, 18, and Pax, 16.
