AceShowbiz - Zac Efron has broken his silence on his recent health scare. After "The Greatest Showman" star was reportedly being rushed to hospital after narrowly escaping death in Papua New Guinea, he had taken to his Instagram account to assure fans that he's now in much better place.

"Very thankful to everyone who has reached out," Zac wrote on Sunday, December 29 alongside a picture of him with local people of Papua New Guinea, where he's filming his upcoming documentary series "Killing Zac Efron". "I did get sick in Papua New Guinea but I bounced back quick and finished an amazing 3 weeks in P.N.G."

He went on adding, "I'm home for the holidays with my friends and family," sending message to his fans prior to the new year, "Thanks for all the love and concern, see you in 2020!"

People were all so relieved to know that he was OK. "Glad to hear you're OK, gave us all a scare, hoping for a quick recovery. happy holidays brother," one of his followers wrote in the comment section. "It's good to know that you're fine. We love you. The best for 2020," another fan added.

"Oh my god I was so worried about you thank god you're okay!" read another message. "OMG ZAC!!! I am so happy that you are well again! I wish you to spend the best time with your family in this festive period. I will always be here to support you!!! I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK!!!" said another fan.

Previous report stated that the 32-year-old actor contracted a "form of typhoid or similar bacterial ­infection" just before Christmas during filming his new show. He was then reportedly flown to Brisbane, Australia on a "life-or-death flight" with the assistance of medical professionals, according to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.

Later, he was admitted to St Andrews War Memorial Hospital in Spring Hill "in a stable condition," and received treatment for several days before being "given the all clear" by doctors to fly home to the U.S. on Christmas Eve, December 24. "Killing Zac Efron" is set to premiere with the small-screen platform's official launch on April 6, 2020.
