The sisterhood between Miss Jamaica Toni-Ann Singh and Miss Nigeria Nyekachi Douglas wins the internet as the former becomes the first Jamaican to win the pageant since 1993.

AceShowbiz - The winner of 2019 Miss World was announced at the ceremony taking place December 14 at the ExCeL London in London. Miss Jamaica Toni-Ann Singh took the crown, beating first runner-up Miss France Ophely Mezino and second runner-up Miss India Suman Rao.

"I represent something special, a generation of women that are pushing forward to change the world," Miss Jamaica said in her speech before winning the title. "I wouldn't say I'm different from any other woman on this stage but I will say that my passion for women and pouring into them and making sure that they have the same opportunities that I've had is something that sets me apart."

She advanced to the top 5 along with Miss France, Miss India, Miss Nigeria Nyekachi Douglas, and Miss Brazil Elis Coelho. When Miss Jamaica was announced as a winner, Miss Nigeria burst with joy for her. Her reaction went viral online, warming people's hearts on the internet.

"This feels like a dream," Miss Jamaica said after receiving her crown when head judge Piers Morgan asked her about how she felt. "I'm just so grateful. Thank you for whatever it is you see in me." The 23-year-old pageant queen continued, "I'm ready to work, ready to get to work."

The aspiring doctor impressed the judge with her beauty and talent. She did a choreography to Koffee's "Toast" and delivered a rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing". She was the fourth Jamaican to get the crown in the pageant's 69-year history and the first one to win the competition since Lisa Hanna bagged the title in 1993.

"I used to judge 'America's Got Talent' and 'Britain's Got Talent', if you'd come out and sung like you did tonight on those shows, you might have won one of those," Morgan said. When asked if she wanted to pursue a music career, she replied, "If the door is open, I'll walk through it."
