The 'Anaconda' hitmaker, who has been locked in a court fight with Maher Jridi since October 2018, has gotten her motion to prevent the release of her questioning dismissed.

AceShowbiz - Rapper Nicki Minaj has been denied her request to seal her videotaped deposition in an ongoing legal battle with a former stylist.

The "Anaconda" hitmaker, real name Onika Maraj, has been locked in a court fight with Maher Jridi since October, 2018, after claiming he had been stuck with a bill of almost $74,000 (£56,200) from his suppliers because she had failed to return designer items rented as wardrobe options for a series of events in 2017, including Paris Fashion Week in France.

He demanded Minaj repay him to cover the cost of the invoice, and hand over damages for emotional distress, but she challenged the claims and subsequently responded with her own lawsuit, arguing the Frenchman is the one who owes her money because she had overpaid him by $12,000 (£9,100) for his services.

Minaj was quizzed about the dispute in a filmed deposition back in September, but she then moved to block Jridi from using the footage or releasing it to the media.

Legal papers obtained by The Blast read: "Given Maraj's fame as a world-renowned rapper and entertainer, she fears Plaintiff intends to publicly disseminate confidential document discovery and pre-trial testimony in order to embarrass or otherwise damage her."

Jridi's lawyers insisted the hip-hop star was simply trying to use her "celebrity status" to gain special treatment, and the judge overseeing the case has since agreed - and dismissed Minaj's motion.

In his ruling, the judge declared the rapper had failed to provide evidence to back up claims suggesting Jridi would leak the video, or explain how its release could damage her reputation.

The case continues.
