In their lawsuit, the luxury fashion company labels the retailers a 'serial infringer specializing in 'fast-fashion' knock-offs' for recreating an affordable version of the green dress.

AceShowbiz - Versace fashionistas are taking Fashion Nova bosses to court for creating a discount version of Jennifer Lopez's infamous Grammys gown.

The retailers are currently selling an affordable version of the green dress Lopez wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards - and revisited in September (2019) during Milan Fashion Week - and executives at Versace are not prepared to let it slide.

Calling the cheap replica a rip-off, they have filed court documents calling label bosses a "serial infringer specializing in 'fast-fashion' knock-offs."

Representatives for the luxury brand are suing for profits generated by the replicas and an injunction blocking further sales. Fashion Nova made headlines earlier this year (2019), after Kim Kardashian blasted them for creating a cheap version of the revealing Thierry Mugler cut-out gown she wore to an awards show.

In a lengthy statement, she declared, "I'm not leaking my looks to anyone, and I don't support what these companies are doing."

Versace currently offers the barely there look sported by Lopez for $9,325 (£7,500).
