The 'Master of None' star and her new wife attend the premiere of 'Queen & Slim' after tying the knot in a super low-key ceremony in front of Harvey Milk's bust.

AceShowbiz - Newlyweds Lena Waithe and Alana Mayo made their debut as a married couple at the premiere of "Queen & Slim" which the former wrote and co-produced. The couple flashed big smiles as they walked the red carpet at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles.

Lena secretly married Alana in San Francisco. The 35-year-old actress/screenwriter announced her marriage in a recent TV interview with John Legend who guest-hosted on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show".

"We snuck and did it. We didn't really make any announcements," the "Master of None" star opened up. "You know, we didn't make any announcements. It was her idea, like all good things are. She was just driving and she saw the courthouse and said 'We should get married there.' And I said, 'Cool. I'm down.' "

Although the wedding was without big fanfare, it was very special to the same-sex couple because they said their vows in front of the statue of late gay rights activist Harvey Milk. "We went to San Francisco, we went to the courthouse and we got married right in front of Harvey Milk's bust," she told the singer.

"It was a really humbling day to marry someone so amazing but also to really appreciate all the work that so many people have put in for us to be able to do that," the Emmy winner said. "Everybody should be able to do that."

Lena and Alana got engaged on Thanksgiving Day 2017 during their Tokyo getaway. It was Lena who popped the big question. It was their first trip to Tokyo and their first Thanksgiving together because Alana usually spent the holiday with her family back home in Cleveland.

Like their wedding, the proposal was also a low-key one. "The funny thing is, it was actually super-chill 'cause even though I am very over the top, my lovely lady is like the opposite, which is good, because I'm very much in front of the scene and she's very much behind them," Lena revealed in a podcast interview. "It was just like in the morning, in the bed, no string, but, you know, it was super low-key."
