The 'Dark Knight Rises' actor reveals that the former U.S. vice president Dick Cheney was not happy with his onscreen portrayal in the 2018 award-nominated movie.

AceShowbiz - Christian Bale learned former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney despised his portrayal in "Vice" via a rude message he received from another parent at his son's school.

"The Dark Knight Rises" star packed on the pounds to play the politician in the 2018 biopic, and although his onscreen performance won him an Oscar nomination, it appears Cheney was not impressed with the film.

Bale reveals he only found out about the Republican's disdain for the project through a mutual acquaintance.

"Strangely enough it was through my son's school," the actor recalled to Yahoo! Entertainment.

"One of the mums was at a party that (Cheney) was at, and she said, 'Oh, I'm going to be seeing Christian tomorrow, you have anything to say to him?' And he said, 'Tell him he's a d**k.'"

Bale initially took the remark as a joke, but Cheney wasn't laughing when he said it, "I went, 'Oh, at least he's got a sense of humour,' " he shared. "And she said, 'No, there was no humour to it whatsoever.'"

The Brit had previously explained he wasn't granted a meeting with President George W. Bush's number two prior to the shoot, so he could only hope that Cheney was pleased with the film.

"What I really wanted to make sure that I did is that I removed any of my own politics from it...," Bale told Variety last year.

"I was completely always looking for the good, for the positive, for the understandable aspect of why he would've made the decisions that he made."

However, after winning the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Bale decided to share his sentiments about his movie subject publicly.

Dedicating the award to Cheney, the 45 year old said during his acceptance speech, "Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role!"
